FRAIL TIGERS OR FAIL TIGERS?
ICC MEN’S T20 WORLD CUP 2024
The current state of the national cricket team of Pakistan perfectly resembles the states upheaval at the political level. Infighting off the field coupled with an inherent lack of unity can and will translate to an embarrassment of foolishness on the field. No singular entity or group is more pivotal than the institution they should be representing. The current conundrum is whether the players even care? The sad fact is individuals can become superstars without even starring for Pakistan. Shot selection is hand-to-eye coordination and in-game shrewdness is a mental state of mind.
PROACTIVE FUTURE
Rudimentary recasting board members, coaching staff and the selection team will not yield long-term success. Removing a proven, born-for-the-role leader like Ramiz Raja was inexcusably crass, absurd and politically calculated. To reinvigorate the fallen tigers, the powers that be must reinstall the Australian system at the domestic level, reinstate Ramiz Raja to the helm and totally remove and nullify state sponsored interference. The Pakistan Cricket Board should be mandated to operate autonomously.
