COACHING STAFF RAPTURE

San Francisco 49ers offseason has yielded the usual and the unusual aplenty but no one could have foreseen loosing 9 coaching staff members. The 49ers are acquainted with seasonal turnover of staff thanks to success on the field, the extraordinary Kyle Shanahan and the copycat nature of the National Football League. On paper 9 staff members is not turnover or reset but a rapture. Mass coaching upheaval can be a problematic endeavour for the management but going forward I believe this season more than usual could be a blessing in disguise.

New blood can bring fresh impetus which can help organisations to adapt and evolve across areas of strength, weakness and the untouchable. Subtle refinements can supersede evolution or revolution in order to maintain success and stay ahead of the curve. I’m intrigued to see how the season plays out with new coaching staff and new starting quarterback. It will be fascinating to see the gradual impact of staffing loss and gain and direct recruitment from College translate to gameday and the Shanahan system.

Mike McDaniel is a unicorn and Bobby Turner is monumental to the organisation. Thankfully Anthony Lynn will step up and bring ample quality and nowse to the table. Brian Schneider will ignite and supercharge the special teams unit and Brian Griese could be a masterstroke, a helping hand for the quarterback room with knowledge and experience of playing the position. Good luck Mike McDaniel and all departing staff. Roll-on 2022 and beyond, in coaching and management we must trust.
